Deep Thoughts From Deez

While staring at a bonfire, these thoughts came to me.
Think on this: "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust." When someone is totally consumed by fire, they become ash. However, the real thinking comes when you wonder, "What else comes from fire?" What happens to smoke? Does it just billow up into the air and then expand to the point where it no longer exists, or does it still remain smoke of one fire, becoming so large that it at one time blankets the entire world, seeing all once it is liberated from the confining lumber solid state of matter....

Here's something I heard at the Derek Webb show: "I follow all the [Biblical] rules, even the ones we've made up ourselves." Which makes me wonder how exactly first generation Christians lived. I wonder how many of the religious societal rules I follow are made up entirely by Christian figure heads and are not from the Bible at all. Curious.

Passion is a strange animal. In my weakened state of sickness, I found myself in the arms of my girlfriend who caressed and cooed me while I rested and slipped between consciousness and unsconciousness. Every time I felt her soft touch or heard her quiet my sick groaning, I couldn't help but think about how much I love the way she loves me.

Yeah? Well so what

if its been a while since I updated this. Its MY JOURNAL, and you're just reading it! Do you get upset when your neighbor doesn't open the blinds? I hope not, you sick, peeping Tom! Spring Break was amazing, if you're into sitting around watching the first season of Stargate SG-1 minus the first 5 episodes on DVD by day and nursing your sick girlfriend back to health at night. Yeah, but I did get to set off a few fireworks. South Carolina is awesome. Its even better I can live 25 minutes from the border, and make firework runs before heading back to the other end of the great, second best state of North Carolina. Nothing against NC, but in SC you can BUY FIREWORKS. YEAH, like the real ones the city shoots off on July 4. Except they're yours. And you can get an unrestricted license at age 15. How amazing, that such a place still exists. March Madness has arrived! Oakland entering the grande dance by dominating Alabama A&M, where Marshall had a sick head fake and drive to dunk. Check out ESPN.com to see it on the thingy on the right. Thats right. The THINGY. Men of Honor is on, which is a great movie. The only Cuba I like. I got a camo hat for a dollar at Wal-Mart. Gangsta! So over Spring Break, I'm watching a lot of basketball and my girlfriend decides that she is going to play refree while shes watching the game and calls a "reach around" foul. I politely explained to her that the correct term is a "reach in" and a "reach around" is an entirely different animal. Wow. Saint Patty's is tomorrow. Wear your green... I'll be rocking that same ol' Niner Nation pride! Niners begin their trip to the finals Friday with State at 12:15 on CBS.

A little Card trick

Ahhh… and another Monday is gone. What a wonderful feeling. My dad told me he’d give me $50 to see me dunk, but little does he know that I can grab a dollar off the backboard and make change on the way down. My hops is sick. Tomorrows forecast? Partly cloudy with a high of 70. Hello Mr. Spring, didn’t see you coming! I’ve had about 3 hours tops of sleep since Sunday morning, so I’m pretty beat right now. I can tell I’m tired because I keep seeing this image of a cow running on its hind legs around the parking lot outside my window being chased by a giant chicken that keeps pecking at his hooves. That’s for real. I keeps it real. Tonight, I totally had to flex on this guy who tried to steal my basketball. I left it on the ground to play a game, and when I stopped dominating the court, it was gone. I looked around and when I found the guy with my ball, I told him to give it to me before I destroyed him in thumb wrestling. One look at my massive appendages was all it took for him to give up the ball and run off with his tail between his legs. Spring Break is right around the corner, but I have no definite plans. Anybody got somewhere warm for me to stay a week? If so, contact me at 704-707-7915. Ask for “Tyree.” Apparently that’s who has been taking my phone calls while I’m in town. Jerk. I’m glad its getting warm, I can’t wait to waste away balmy summer nights in the back of my truck in the church parking lot. I love being sober. Its really not as lame as it sounds. All sorts of cool things happen in church parking lots on midsummer nights. I heard the national Othello bored game tournament is held in a little hamlet called MacBeth Mill. Wild. I had this crazy dream where I was playing this flight simulator/tactics game, and then when I beat the game I found out it wasn’t a simulator at all and the End of my Game caused Xenocide on a race of people. Talk about not playing with a full deck of Card. But what’s that got to do with the price of Bean in China? I think I pulled my Achilles heel tonight, but I’m not going to go to the doctor for fear of feeling like a Bonzo. Madrid seems like a wonderful place to visit! Bro, I hope you read this… and thanks for the Valentine rock. Is that a Petra or a Peter? The choice is yours, just don’t twist my arm too far or it will break. Dreams are nuts. If am certifiable, can I have my certificate? It’d look great on mommy’s fridge.

So I'm on a losing basketball team. Every night I score at least once, and I dedicate it to my loyal fan in the stands, who is always there to threaten me into scoring. He's also my neighbor. What a guy. My girlfriend is sick. I didn't call her back tonight, but I figure she needs rest. Right decision? I'm sure. Life goes on. Get hype, ya'll. #23 Charlotte plays DePaul tomorrow night for the tie with Louisville for C-USA conference leaders. Go Niners. I have realized that I really wish I still smoked, it was such a relaxing sebatical from the rush of life. Oh well, I've got to keep my woman happy. The things I endure for love. I've never smoked cigarettes, just the occasional cigar (no inhaleing) and hookah (a thing of beauty, believe me). But I find the desire for the rare cigar or hookah hit far too appealing. Life goes on. What if the only things that really mattered in life were the easiest things to do? What if things one shouldn't do were RIDICULOUSLY easy to resist? I would have a much clearer conscience, and for the most part I keep one. So I've found that life has a way of placing exactly what I need in the strangest places. Right when I'm not looking for something, it'll walk up and hit me. Most of my friends I have come to know because of random occurances: happened to walk in the dorm room, happened to yell as I walked by, happened to show up where I was, happened to park next to me. Random. Happened to live next door. Happened to live down the road. Happened to walk up to me in a room full of strangers and shake my hand. Happened to go out of the way and meet me in a small sanctuary in a small church in a small city in a small state. I am so small compared to what is around me. Coming from someone who is 6 foot 6 and bullet proof, this is quite the revelation. Things have always worked out for me, even in the midst of what would seem like the world crashing. Dean Smith is quoted as saying, "I believe in praising that which deserves to be praised." There are SO many things that deserve praise over Carolina basketball, and Coach Smith knew this. His statement is one which relates basketball to life. Life is like basketball... when great things are accomplished, the conductor deserves to be praised. Not the actual instrument, nor the musician, but the conductor. Sure, a good trombone player can pull off a sick solo, but what is that compared to the sound of an entire band. There I go comparing life to music. Goodnight.
